They will rebuild the ancient ruins

This speaks of people’s lives laying in ruins, whether those ruins are their self perception, a lost or botched relationship, or simply feeling that they have made a mess of their life.

It can also be the ruin of sin, wrong decisions, or giving in to deception. It may have been an abuse, bankruptcy, loss of reputation, or humiliation. Wrong choices may have led to sin, crime, or addiction, resulting in a sense that one’s life is ruined.

Ancient ruins implies that this happened in the past. In ruins implies a complete loss of hope. Though neither our deeds nor those of others can be undone, healing, restoration, and renewal are all possible in God’s grace, love, and provision. God is truly the restorer of the brethren. [Galatians 6:1]
