Receiving and Perceiving God’s Direction

Receiving and Perceiving God’s Direction

“They that are led of the Spirit of God are the sons of God” [Romans 8:14 KJV]

‍ ‍
“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’ “  [Is 65:1 NIV]

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!””   [Romans 8:14-15 NASB1995]

‍ ‍

Jesus said: “I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father.”  [ John 10:14-15 NASB1995 ]

‍ ‍

Jesus emphasizes hearing His voice by reiterating this again later in the same conversation, in

‍ ‍

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” [ John 10:27-28 NASB1995]

The word “hear” in this verse is translated

·       “Listen to” in the NIV & Good News Translation

·       “Hear” in the KJV

·       “Know” in the Contemporary English Version (CEV)

·       “Respond to” God’s Word Translation

We need to train ourselves to listen to, hear, recognize, and respond to God speaking to us, in either His “logos” (the written Word), via “rhema” (Holy Spirit igniting the application of a written verse to our situation), or the Hebrew word, “dahbar” (God speaking directly to us by his Holy Spirit).

‍ ‍

Psalms 119:104-106 NASB1995  says: “From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. I have sworn and I will confirm it, That I will keep Your righteous ordinances.” The written Word of God, the Bible, is clearly our main guide in the Christian life. But where Psalm 119:105 says, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.," [KJV], the Hebrew word here, translated commonly as simply “word” is word #H1696in Strong’s Concordance.  This Hebrew word appears 1143 times in the O.T. The KJV translates Strongs word H1696 in the following manner: “speak” 73% of the time (840x), “say” (118 times), “talk” (46 times), and also “promise”, “tell”, “commune”, “pronounce”, “utter”, and “command”.     [Source: https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/strongs/H1696]

‍ ‍

Seek God’s truth about every situation:

In John 16:13, Jesus says, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all Truth”

‍ ‍

He will guide your path:

‍ ‍“He, your Teacher, will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.”   Isaiah 30:20-21 NASB1995   https://bible.com

‍ ‍

His peace will be the arbitor or umpire in decisions:

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,”   Colossians 3:15-16 NASB1995

‍ ‍

And we can trust His care and help if we simply “miss it”.

“When he stumbles, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.”   Psalms 37:24 NASB1995

‍ ‍

Once again, in summary,we need to train ourselves to listen to, hear, recognize, and respond to God speaking to us, in either His “logos” (the written Word), His “rhema”, or His “dahbar”: God speaking directly to us by his Holy Spirit.
