Disappointment
Disappointment….
There can’t be disappointment without expectation.
Where or when have you been disappointed? Are you facing disappointment right now?
Kinds of disappointment:
THERE CAN BE DISAPPOINTING EVENTS OR SITUATIONS
~ Something you were looking forward to that didn’t materialize.
~ Something someone promised and simply didn’t deliver.
~ Something that didn’t turn out the way you’d hoped.
~ Something promised that did happen, but turned out to really fall short of what you were sold or promised.
WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE?
Have people disappointed you? Perhaps someone specific comes to mind.
Or when your zeal for something isn’t matched by another person connected with the issue.
WHAT ABOUT GOD?
Did you ever feel that God let you down?
HAVE YOU EVER FELT DISAPPOINTED IN YOURSELF?
HAS ANYONE EVER TOLD YOU THAT THEY WERE DISAPPOINTED IN YOU?
Disappointments can run deep, and if so, there is no easy fix, that is why we will be dealing with this at my Life Breakthrough Workshop this Saturday morning 4/18/2026, to seek the God’s healing and restoration of hope and trust…..For information, see below.
These small group meetings, called Life Breakthrough Workshops, are typically held on the third Saturday of the month from 9:30 AM to 11 AM at the Beyond Survival Ministry Center, located at 7 Church St., Lawrence, PA 15055. The site is about a mile and a quarter from Rt. 19 opposite Valley Brook Road.

DISAPPOINTENT CAN CREATE DEEP HURT AND PAIN, especially if you’ve felt betrayed or duped.
OUR RESPONSE IS KEY
~ Are we going to judge the person that let us down?
~ Or are you going to dive into self-condemnation when someone expresses disappointment in us. We have a short.
~ Is our response anger and self protection?
~ There is also the anger and upset when something doesn’t play out the way we envisioned and expected …there is a pride involved….
~ Or do we get angry and frustrated and we get manipulative and controlling to get the result we want.
We need God’s perspective, not ours, in light of our unmet expectations
We need to find a resiliency based on trust in God, not on people or events.
“I will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Me”
Remember the song, “Jesus Be the Center“
DISAPPOINTMENT CAN LEAD TO DISCOURAGEMENT and DEFEAT - DON’T LET IT
~ If there is a “track record” of disappointment, each new disappointment may be amplified.
~ There can be a type of PTSD of disappointment: saying to yourself “here we go again”.
The Word says in John 16:33, “In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the World!” Greater is the Holy Spirit within you than any darkness or defeat!
“Arise, shine, your light has come , and the Glory of the Lord is risen upon you!”
